Who's Behind the Door(s)?

"It's me! I was the turkey all along!!"

42Doors exists because I got tired of products that don’t work for real bodies, real brains, or real lives.

It’s all about comfort, creativity, and a little chaos, because life is too short for boring clothes and forced vibes. This is functional stuff for people who are tired, weird, chronically ill, distractible, stubborn, creative, or all of the above. Oversized hoodies that don’t feel restrictive. Fleece pants with pockets that actually hold things. Handmade pieces and odd little comforts that make daily life suck a bit less.

I’m Krys, the brain (and occasional disaster) behind this funky little venture. I’m a disabled artist with ADHD, and my life is not especially neat or tidy, much like my house. That lived-in chaos is part of how 42Doors works. I make things that feel good, work well, and bring a little joy, whether that’s a hoodie that feels like a hug, a sassy heat pack, or a custom service dog cape that actually turns heads.

I’m not here to “serve” spoonies, rebels, misfits, or dreamers from a safe marketing distance. I am one. This shop is built from lived experience, frustration, trial and error, and a lot of moments where I thought, there has to be a better way than this.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. -Terry Pratchett

What's in a name?

"I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be." - Douglas Adams

The name comes from Douglas Adams’ idea that 42 is the answer to life, the universe, and everything, plus the endless doors we can open if we’re willing to try. It’s about finding your own way, your own style, and your own version of comfort, even if it looks unconventional from the outside.

At 42Doors, I believe in functional solutions for the dysfunctional. That’s most of us, honestly. Oversized hoodies, fleece pants with pockets that actually make sense, and quirky handmade items are just the beginning. I’m not here just for the spoonies, rebels, misfits, and dreamers. I’m all of those things myself.

I’m also a service dog handler, which means I care a lot about gear that actually works. You’ll find service dog items here that are practical first and still cool to look at, because function and style don’t have to be enemies.

This whole thing is a work in progress, and I’m proud of that. Ideas evolve. Projects shift. New doors open when capacity allows. What you see now is part of something that keeps growing, changing, and occasionally wandering off on side quests.

I keep things funky, edgy, and a little dark because life isn’t always tidy or inspiring, and that’s fine. Step through a door, poke around, and grab something that makes you smile. Life is weird. You don’t have to pretend otherwise.

Plum Pie

You know that nursery rhyme where the boy sticks his thumb in a pie and pulls out a plum?
This is like that, except instead of a pie it’s my brain, and instead of a plum it’s honest, useful stuff that actually works.

(Wait, what? Normie speak: Just things pulled straight from lived experience, slightly singed around the edges.)

The Plum Stall

Welcome to the Plum Stall. It is much too small for the number of ideas happening here.

This is a disabled-owned, Canadian, one-person shop doing its best to sell very specific plums from a stall that was never designed to hold this much chaos. You’re not shopping a corporation. You’re shopping a human with a table, a plan, and way too many side quests.

Award-Winning Plums

Most things here are handmade by me, with care, stubbornness, and an unreasonable amount of attention to detail.

This trophy is not for being the best. It’s for showing up, doing the work, and consistently producing plums that do not fall apart under pressure.

Who are these plums for?

These plums are for real people. Tired people. Complicated people. People who need things to work without putting on a performance.

Everything here is designed with actual humans in mind, especially those who value comfort, function, and humor that assumes you’re paying attention.

(And just in case you weren't paying attention, there are no actual plumbs to find here.)
